First Ezra Klein noted a Barack Obama mailer distributed slamming Hillary Clinton’s ad:

obamamailer

Now Hillary Clinton fires back with an ad of her own:

hillarymailer

Clearly both sides are resorting to dirty attacks at what basically boils down to philosophical differences in building a healthcare system. Obama’s assertion is that health insurance mandates, just like car insurance mandates, don’t mean that everyone gets insurance just because you tell them to. He takes a more wait and see approach, willing to refine the system as it goes on. Hillary, on the other hand, takes the most aggressive measure possible, ensuring that the greatest number of people are insured from the start. Both sides have their merits, and debating the issues should not be reduced to a photo and caption distribution.

On the bright side, at least the subject of this debate is strictly a progressive issue, leaving little fodder for a Republican candidate to attack the eventual Democratic winner with the eventual Democratic loser’s arguments.
