Hillary Clinton blasts Barack Obama for his continued use of of a healthcare mailer.Ezra says “it’s really time he cut it out with these damn mailers;” Jon Cohn calls the tactics “disturbing.”
And while I agree with both of these guys, do we really need to leap to her defense every time she herself goes negative? If she wants to say, “shame on you,” and the media wants to report on it, shouldn’t we at least acknowledge her tactics doing the very same thing?
Is this Clinton ad not doing the very same thing herself? So when she wants to gain a press advantage by ranting on national television, wouldn’t it be more fair to acknowledge the faults of both sides as well? To do otherwise legitimizes her illegitimate claims and gives credence to her holier than thou tone. This is just the impression of one blogger, but I think the media as well as Krugman, Klein, et. al. need to present this issue with greater balance.

Why not spend more time explaining their policies if they are misrepresented? We don’t need to have candidates wasting time arguing about whose campaign tactics are worse.
