A few hours ago I get an e-mail from former Michigan Review editor-in-chief Michael O’Brien. It’s contents? Just a link. On the linked page, the Review editorial staff give their picks for the Worst of Ann Arbor (in contrast to the Michigan Daily’s Best of Ann Arbor). So clearly with an e-mail directing me towards this specific page, we know what’s coming next. And hey, I bit, and gave them a little bit more attention on this blog. From the website:

“[Worst] Campus Publication: The Michigan Daily

(From Editor-in-Chief Michael O’Brien: Sorry, guys, but the staff’s choice trumps mine: The Michigan Independent, and Chill magazine.)”

But I guess I am curious, was The Michigan Independent in the running for worst publication on campus, or was the aside the sole opinion of O’Brien? Personally, if we’re going to be mentioned among a list of supposedly awful publications, I’d rather take the top prize than play second fiddle to the Daily. But there’s also next year, so thanks for trying Mike, and better luck next time!

UPDATE: So Mike says it’s his sole opinion, with a legitimate complaint that we do not publish frequently enough to boot. To Mike and others eagerly anticipating more of the Independent, it should hit the stands on Thursday!
