Today, I find out that a 13 year old boy is smarter than our NASA scientists, recalculating the probability that the Near Earth Asteroid Apophis will strike the Earth. While many people may be quick to praise him, I for one am not in agreement. Singlehandedly this guy reduces my chances of living past 2036 by a factor of 100, and we should praise him? I think not. Still though, if his calculations are correct we’re talking about a 1:450 chance of impact, so while it’s not as high as I’d like, I wouldn’t start preparing for the apocalypse any time soon.

UPDATE: So NASA says this stuff is silly, and will not revise it’s estimates. My bad.
