It’s like Google, except it filters out all things un-GLBT friendly for you, thus the name GLOOBTS. (G being gay, L lesbian, B bi and T trans) It’s a search engine that enables you to access a growing database of GLBT operated and friendly businesses and organizations around the world.
Publicly launched on June 1, the site was created and is managed by Lil’ Fish, Big Pond a gay-owned and operated web design company based in Virginia. Probably because it’s so new, GLOOBT’s listings are far from being as extensive as it should be. For example, searching “Ann Arbor” only gives you four results (2 hotels, 1 massage therapist, and 1 church). And there are far more than four GLBT owned and friendly businesses in Ann Arbor. So frankly, using Google to find GLBT friendly businesses would be more helpful than GLOOBTs, at least for now. GLOOBTs is currently searching for and soliciting companies to be added to its database.
