The Michigan Independent exists to engage the community in constructive debate and to inspire activism for social change. The Independent was founded in April 2004 with the help of Campus Progress, and has been published as a monthly newsmagazine ever since. We are a non-partisan publication and our content does not necessarily reflect the views of the staff and editorial board.
